One of the things we asked ourselves is "What do we wish we would have had access to when we were starting out? Or for that matter, even now?"

There are few substitutes for what can be gained by working with someone and diving into their project files. The epiphany moments you experience when you see how someone else achieves something in contrast to how you would have is priceless. For many of us who may not live in a major market or work in-house at studios, these opportunities can sadly be hard to come by.

In starting Holdframe, our aim is to build a community-centered platform which will create a new educational tool for everyone to learn from while also providing a scalable means for the creators in our community to make passive income off of their unique points of view, original work, and expertise.

Why should I care?

For a lot of reasons!

Holdframe has been made independently by members of our community, for the members of our community. When you purchase a product from the Market, the majority of all proceeds go directly to the artists themselves. What money Holdframe makes goes toward keeping the lights on and developing new tools intended directly for our community's betterment.

So, is Holdframe just a store?

For now, yes, but we view this experiment more as a growing platform. The hope is that by partnering with select creators, we can start small and continue to expand and see where it takes us!

What is the difference between the Market and Freebies pages?

There are two main pages which currently make up Holdframe: the Market page and the Freebies page.

The Market page is where we showcase our featured products which you can purchase for educational purposes.

  • As noted above, nothing can compete with seeing just how other people work and solve problems. The idea for the Market is simple: learn from the best while being able to help support them in the process.

The Freebies page is where you can find community-submitted project files which are available to download for free.

  • The idea for the Freebies is even simpler: by us all sharing seemingly innocuous bits, the collective knowledge can expand and, in turn, we all benefit from it! The hope is that the Freebies page can become an ever expanding and diverse collection of work to learn from.

Who owns the work?

The creator of each product on Holdframe maintains the sole ownership and copyright of said work. In purchasing a product from Holdframe, customers are purchasing a license to view and explore the project files for their individual educational purposes.

Please be sure to read our Terms and Conditions in full to find out more.

How do you define educational purposes?

Educational purposes are those in which the customer views and explores the project files solely for their personal development and growth in a purely non-commercial way.

In purchasing a product from Holdframe, you are agreeing to our specific and legal binding Terms and Conditions and are strictly prohibited from using the products in any outward facing way, passing the work off as your own, or sharing the project files themselves.

When in doubt, do not render.

What if I'd like to share my work on Holdframe?

Holdframe is a platform that has been built by our community, for our community and we'd love to hear from you!

If you're interested in having your work on Holdframe, please use our submission form here.

How do you decide what to share & sell?

Holdframe is and will always be a highly curated space and we feel this is one of our biggest strengths!

In maintaining this, it will ensure that when you visit Holdframe you will see nothing but exceptional work that is being made within our community.

On a case-by-case basis, we look at how inventive the work is, the techniques being employed, and how it complements our current offerings.

What am I actually buying?

This will likely evolve over time but as it stands, on Holdframe you can purchase project files from select creators from our community for educational purposes. Products will regularly include one-on-one interviews, behind-the-scenes material, and a video walkthrough with the creator. Each page will clearly indicate what is included in the product.

Pricing policy

Pricing is subject to changes as we grow and evolve.

As you can imagine, pricing something like the products we feature on our market can be very difficult. If you take the Sins product we are featuring by Ariel Costa, this is one of the best animations made in recent years and is a product of Ariel's unique experience and dedication over the past 10 years. There is no way to assign a dollar amount that can equal that of Ariel's expertise.

That being said, the idea is to create a community-centric platform that is accessible to everyone and creates a symbiotic relationship between both the customers and the creators. In addition to the free projects we offer on the Freebies page, we are offering all the products on the Market at the lowest rate we can while still respecting the craft and artistry that went into each product. By doing so, our hope is that these products can be accessible to the widest audience, while also providing value to the creators and empowering them to create more work.

Whether you are a student living on a budget or a seasoned pro, there is something for you on Holdframe!

Given the nature of digital products, all sales are final.

Please be sure to read this page in full in addition to our Terms and Conditions to make sure you fully understand our policies.
